Boards and Auxiliaries

The Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees, represented by the Foundation’s boards and auxiliaries, including the Associates Board of the UCCRF, the UCCRF Auxiliary Board, and the UCCRF Women’s Board.

The Associate's Board of the UCCRF is comprised primarily of young philanthropists dedicated to raising funds that are necessary for the prevention and cure of cancer.  The  Board has made significant contributions to advance the study and treatment of malignant mesothelioma and the development of immunotherapies.

The UCCRF Auxiliary Board, comprised of women who actively raise funds to support the research of three selected doctors for three years, was founded in 1951 by Stephanie Howell and incorporated in 1959 as an official auxiliary of the UCCRF.  The Board has supported studies related to the immune system, mechanisms of cancer development, and the long-term effects of cancer treatments on cancer survivors.

The UCCRF Women's Board was formed in 1947 to help the University of Chicago establish world-class programs in cancer genetics, immunotherapies, pharmacogenom ics, bio- and clinical informatics, and other targeted therapies.  The Board conducts fundraising events to support the Ben May Department for Cancer Research, the Committee on Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, and many core laboratory facilities.
